Gneiss Sounds (pronounced “nice”) is a small Latino-owned record shop in Houston’s historic East End, in Magnolia Park. We opened a storefront in 2022 after starting as pop-ups at Xela Coffee Roasters, pulling from our own shelves and building the collection slowly and intentionally. Those early days set the tone: a curated selection, a clear point of view and a place where the music always comes first.

We carry new and used vinyl, tapes, and CDs with a strong emphasis on emo, hardcore, punk, and loud indie, plus apparel and publications alongside them. The common thread is feeling and intensity—records that hit hard and stick with you, the ones you go back to when you’re trying to name what’s going on in your head. We love the staples, but we’re equally invested in local bands, DIY releases, and anything that deserves more ears.

We also run Rite Field Records and share the space with End on End Prints, so the shop, the label, and the print studio all live under one roof. It’s one place for music, merch, and the people who make it. Come through to dig, take your time, and leave with something that stays with you..
